How we worked it out
The guide uses the USTAT focus from Italy's Ministry of University and Research on 2023/2024 student contributions. The published average for all enrolled students is EUR 943, while paying students average EUR 1,493: we use the latter as the main cost because it better describes someone who actually pays fees. The EUR 0-6,000 range reflects full exemption on one side and the MUR statement that no public-university students appear above EUR 6,000 a year. Rent, books, transport and living costs are excluded.
