Poste Delivery International Standard starts at EUR 25.80. It is an entry price rather than a quote for every country: the tariff separates destination zones and six weight bands up to twenty kilograms.
Sending a parcel abroadIt falls in the 0 to 3 kilogram band, which costs EUR 10.30 with Poste Delivery Standard if the box respects the standard format dimensions. If the box exceeds them, the same two-kilo parcel costs EUR 15.30: five euros more, almost fifty per cent. That is why it is worth measuring the box rather than only weighing it, and it is the difference most often missing from comparisons published elsewhere.

Before loading a washing machine, check opening hours, required documents and unloading arrangements. Do not assume every retailer must accept a large appliance without a purchase: the like-for-like take-back route is linked to buying equivalent replacement equipment.
Disposing of an old appliance in ItalyThe B stamp is worth EUR 1.30 and corresponds to the first weight bracket of Posta Ordinaria in the small format, that is, up to twenty grams. It carries no printed amount precisely because its value follows the tariff in force: it is designed not to lose validity when the price list changes. The B_50 g stamp is worth EUR 2.90 and covers the second bracket, from twenty to fifty grams. Older stamps with a printed amount can still be used, but they have to be topped up to reach the current tariff.
Sending a letter in ItalyThe return receipt costs EUR 1.05 and is added to the tariff for the weight band. A light item up to 20 grams therefore goes from EUR 6.00 to EUR 7.05. In the top band, 1,001 to 2,000 grams, it goes from EUR 16.45 to EUR 17.50. It is the extra that makes registered post useful as proof of delivery, and it is the reason the figure most often quoted, six euros, almost always understates what is actually spent.
